Founded in 2018, Australia's first Cannabis Awards have quickly but firmly established an exciting presence in the blooming Aussie cannabis industry. Met with an enthusiastic welcome from all corners of the industry, the Awards quickly gained the support from many of Australia’s largest cannabis communities and most respected cannabis organisations.
World-first and independent.
We are the world’s first cannabis industry awards to have an independent judging panel, selecting winners by merit rather than popularity. Most other award shows are ‘pay-to-play’ events where winners are selected by the awards company or public-vote, which means only the big companies with big budgets and big followings win the awards. The Australian Awards, however, are proud that small businesses can compete with big corporations on merit.
It’s important to know that The Cannabis Industry Awards are not run by some other company or organisation. We always intended The Awards to be run by the community, for the community.
We rely heavily on feedback and input from the cannabis community itself, and business leaders in Australia.
The people who founded the awards, and wrote these words, are a small group of friends who are themselves cannabis patients, activists, and ordinary people.

While we are still in the very early stages of legalisation, the cannabis industry is predicted to become twice the size of the beer industry! Australia has one of the highest rates of cannabis consumption in the world, and if the Australian beer and wine industries are anything to go by, it will grow into a thriving and unique identity of its own - and we’ll be there to grow with it.
